1. Visual Impairments
Current Features:
- Dark Mode: The app supports dark mode to reduce eye strain and improve readability in low-light environments.
- Text-to-Speech Functionality: The Liva app uses your device’s accessibility tools to support the ability to listen to content.
- Partial Text Enlargement: Text can be enlarged in some areas of the app.
- Limited Landscape Viewing: The app allows for image viewing in landscape mode.
Currently under development:
- Full Text Enlargement: Expanding text enlargement functionality to all areas of the app.
- Video content transcription: Ensuring all video content can also be provided via text.
- Printable PDF Content: Allowing learning content to be printed for easier offline access and review.
- Adequate colour contrast: Ensuring all coloured content is visible and distinguishable.
Planned for future development:
- Full Text-to-Speech Functionality: Ensuring text-to-speech is supported throughout the entire app interface.
- Complete Landscape Mode: Enabling full landscape viewing for the entire app interface.
- Alt text: Adding a short descriptive alt text to images.
2. Hearing Impairments

- Text-Based Notifications: Notifications and alerts are delivered through text.
- Vibration Alerts: Important notifications can be accompanied by vibration alerts.

- Closed Captions: Ensuring all video content includes subtitles or closed captions.

- Larger Click Space: Most buttons and clickable areas are designed with larger dimensions.

- Voice Commands: Ability to navigate the app and perform actions using voice commands.

Compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
In addition to the features listed above, we are continuously working to ensure our app complies with WCAG for mobile apps. This includes:
- Perceivability: Providing text alternatives for non-text content, ensuring all information is presented in ways service users can perceive.
- Operability: Making all functionality available from a keyboard and providing service users with enough time to read and use content.
- Understandability: Making text content readable and understandable, ensuring web pages appear and operate in predictable ways.
- Robustness: Maximising compatibility with current and future user tools.
